Theater for Young Audiences program

Each spring approximately 2,000 students from school districts around Los Angeles and the San Gabriel Valley experience the joy of live theater through our Theater for Young Audiences program, where we offer shows targeted to younger age groups.

In 2019, SMP is presenting the classic children's story Stuart Little by E.B. White, adapted by Joseph Robinette.

REGISTRATION IS CLOSED FOR SMP'S 2019 TYA SERIES. Please check back soon for details on our 2020 TYA Series!

Our Theater for Young Audiences program extends and amplifies classroom learning --- and for many local students, this is the first play they’ve ever seen. Since 2014, Sierra Madre Playhouse has welcomed nearly 7,000 students from 11 school districts around the region at more than 90 special weekday matinees.

Participating students learn about the process and teamwork involved in telling a story on stage, and each teacher is provided with a study guide for reading the book with their students. Lessons are standards-based and engage students in multiple subjects, from Language Arts to STEAM.
